your data

How to get it back, and how to have it destroyed.

The privacy page explains the position. This one is the instructions. Neither of them requires you to give a reason.

no forms, no account, one email

Write to hello@the-shadow-map.com from the address you gave Vera, say what you want, and it is done. There is nothing to log into and no retention offer waiting on the other end.

What is held about you

  • The transcript of your conversation with Vera, in full.
  • The measurements the instruments took while you answered: timing, hesitation, revision.
  • Your email address.
  • The session id that joins those together, and the expiring token your findings link was built from.
  • Your findings and your map, once written.
  • If you bought the map: a record that you paid, and Stripe’s reference for it. Not your card number, which never reaches this site.

Asking for a copy

Write and ask. You get the transcript, the instrument measurements, your findings, your map, and the email address on file, in a form you can open without special software. We reply within 24 hours to confirm your request and arrange the copy. There is no charge.

Asking for deletion

Write and ask. Everything above is destroyed: the transcript, the measurements, the report, the email address, the session. You are removed from every send, including the one quiet email a non-buyer would otherwise receive.

what survives, and why

A record that a payment happened, if one did. Tax law requires keeping it, and that obligation cannot be waived by either of us. It holds the amount, the date, and Stripe’s reference. It does not hold a word of what you wrote.

what deletion costs you

Your map goes with it. If you have not downloaded it, save it first, because it cannot be rebuilt afterwards from anything left behind.

Deletion is honoured, not negotiated. Nobody will write back asking you to reconsider.

If you did not finish

An abandoned investigation still leaves a transcript behind. It is deleted on the same terms as any other, and it is deleted on its own after 1 month whether you write or not.

Correcting something

If the email address is wrong, or something held about you is wrong, say so and it is corrected. Your transcript is a record of what you said and is not rewritten, but it can be deleted.

If the answer does not satisfy you

You can complain to the data protection authority where you live. Doing so does not affect anything else here. The details of who holds the data and on what basis are on the privacy page.
